GRAVEYARD

Graveyard

Reflexively, you curl tighter. Just another minute. Just another minute of sleep is all you need, but the sun waits for no one. Wait. The sun? After many days and nights with only moonlight to guide you, your eyes snap open and your pupils contract at the light.

It's been a while, hasn't it?

Bask in this euphoria for however long it lasts, until your memory snaps back against your mind like a rubber band. Weren't you dead? No matter how you met your end, you certainly remember dying in vivid detail. The pain that corresponds to the last moment's of your life chooses then to make itself known, trying to wriggle free from your skin almost literally. That mark on your skin wasn't there before either.

Take a moment to breathe and get your bearings, and really take everything into focus. The warm rays of sun that dance upon your skin are colorful and fragmented like a kaleidoscope, the effect of being filtered through stained glass. Of all the places to wake up, it seems you're inside a church that's no stranger to you, St. Mary's Basilica. While the odds are good you've woken up with company somewhere near by, the glint of gold from the altar will likely catch your attention regardless—embedded deep in the altar stands a golden staff, two sculpted wings draped down its sides.

While some things are the same, and some things are different, there are still more questions than answers. But the inscription engraved into the roof of the ceiling of the Church, now visible in proper lighting seems rather apt: Welcome to Krakow (again).

Well, it's certainly not going to help them solve anything. Even if she's going to make her own dissywissy zombie, it's irrelevant right now.

Hm. The floor for accusations is still open; perhaps they are imagining themselves as her next construct.

[He doesn't seem especially concerned about his own husk, but then he didn't seem especially concerned about execution or being crushed by Twilight either so he's not a good barometer here.]

They could do with more accusing, at least people can try to defend themselves if they feel like.

Hmph. It would be much more interesting if they had the foresight to simply sacrifice one of themselves to force her hand. But I doubt they have the cohesiveness or the planning needed for any of that.

[Which is why he did bring it up at dead comm time, but didn't bother to really emphasize it. This group is both too whiny and too weak for it, in his view.]

They have no cohesiveness for anything. Which is why they almost got Redick last time.

[ Still would've been funny. ]

Indeed. It was a fairly general trap for Sanguis users -- that it caught him was by chance, though quite unfortunate that they did not give the suspicion the weight it deserved.

[It would have been nice and easy if Rideaux had had trouble getting onto the crime scene altogether. Bygones are bygones, though.

And then there's this.]

... I don't disagree with voting for the greatest liability, but they are still much too caught up in the idea that these trials have any legitimacy or relevance besides saving their own skin.

[ You tell it quarter. ] Humans usually can't see beyond their own hides after all. Even now when there's a bigger picture that needs more attention.

Unsurprising. For the most part, their existence is narrow and short, without any windows into the next worlds nor any worlds besides their own.

[He... shakes his head. There's so much here that reinforces his existing views on humans, even as he re-examines other and separate things.]

Perhaps at this point, the bigger picture no longer matters.

Well, the bigger picture for us to get out of this situation. [ Mainly for the kids for him. ]

[He just gets a questioning look from Ulquiorra for this. Maybe he's just too busy popcorning to get into this whole conundrum or there really is just so many ways things could go (please see: Shin having a minor breakdown in the background), but he seems to be questioning the whole concept itself.]
tokihanate: (um what)

[personal profile] tokihanate 2020-02-08 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Well that's fine, shin can have a breakdown here and those people can have a breakdown over there. Equilibrium. ]

[Is it really equivalent though when they have like twice the amount of breakdown over there. Why are the living so much more questionable than the actual serial killer somehow.]

[ Don't ask him, he thinks very little of most of them. It's questionable what they're thinking all the time. And Pizza's sad, so that counts more for him than them. ]
